The computer is not salvageable without spending a lot of money, as you have been quoted at the Apple store. Your decision is between paying the repair cost or buying a new computer. If you have it repaired, should you ever need another repair, the computer will always indicate it has had liquid damage.

The issue is: water was spilled on the computer. You need to take it to an authorized service center for evaluation. Water damage is often extensive and ongoing.
