If I delete my old Apple ID, can I re-use the email address?

I had one Apple ID when I had an old phone, which I didn't use much. When I got a new one I got a new Apple ID I used it extensively and forgot about my old account.

I'm trying to migrate from other services over to iCloud mail, and one of the addresses I'd like to use is my full name. Unfortunately, in trying to set that up I discovered that that's what I used for my old Apple ID.

It doesn't seem like you can merge two accounts, but you *can* delete old accounts. My question is - if I do delete my old account, will that free up that email address so that I can add it to my new account?

There have been posts by people who have contacted Apple Support and they were told that if you delete an ID associated with an email address, you can never reuse the email address for an Apple ID. I have also seen posts that stated Apple told them there was a 30 day waiting period before the address could be used again.You will need to get another e-mail address to use as your Apple ID or you can try waiting 30 days to see if that works.
