Can you sync Smart Groups in Contacts?

Hi Folks,

I am still running Mojave, but I really want to be able to sync my Smart Groups in Contacts with iCloud so they are seamless with my iOS devices.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I was wondering if Catalina has changed this…

Would love for someone to tell me if it's possible or if I am missing something.

It's not addressed in the Contacts man.

Adding contacts to groups within the Mac App In Mojave on my MBP I could drag a contact into a group, and it joined the group. In Catalina I can drag the contact towards the group, It does not join the group I know I can use iCloud via safari to do this. I've done it successfully. I do not wish to do so in the future and I did not need to do it in the past. That is an added level of complexity that was not present in Mojave Contacts Version 12.0 (2419.1) Catalina 10.15 (19A583) I'd appreciate your thoughts, please

Can one make a 'normal' group from the contents of a smart group? I use contacts in a 'dynamic' sort of way. (Filemaker is the source of the data, therefore contacts must be reloaded periodically... As Smart Groups do not sync across devices, I am looking for a way to create my normal groups in a time efficient manner. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Smart Groups do not sync. iOS doesn't have that capability.
