How Do I Change The Icon Of My Microsoft Word Document? / How Do I Change The Icon Of An Application?

When ever i type something into Microsoft Word 2019 and save it onto my desktop, the icon doesn't look like the original Word icon but it looks like this: (TEST #1).

And when ever i try to change the icon by copying and image > get info > paste it onto the small icon, i get this: (TEST #2).

My sister on the other hand, has it perfectly. When ever my sister saves a Word Document, it automatically displays the icon as it should. So i need help to change the icon of my Word Documents automatically when i save them.

Highlight the icon in "Get Info" and press the "Delete" key to get rid of any custom icons.

If you double-click on the Word document does it actually open up in Word? Maybe the default app for opening Word documents is no longer MS Word. You should be able to right-click or Option-click the Word document and select "Open with...." and select MS Word as the default for this document.

What icon are you using when trying to update the icon in "Get Info"? macOS has very strict image restrictions (size, colors, image type, etc.) for use as an icon.

Do all your Word documents have this icon issue or just some of them?

Have you rebooted the computer? Have you run Disk Utility First Aid?
