If they are actually being synced to iCloud, removing them from your device will also remove them from iCloud. can you currently view them on icloud.com? If so, they will not be in your backup.

The vast majority of users sync them as above.

If they are indeed in a backup, you can't view them separately. A backup is a data archive.

You can purchase 3rd party software for your computer, such as Backup Extractor, and view the file and retrieve things if necessary.

As I said, no. You can't view anything within a data archive.

In order to be of any use, you must restore the entire backup at once.
