problem with signing in to my macbook pro after setting up touch id

I just got a new MacBook Pro. Set up password then after couple of days added Touch ID. Last night I shut down for the first time. Restarted this morning and will not accept my password. Message is “Touch ID requires your password when Mac restarts.” Did a reset, set up password again, tried logging in and still getting “Touch ID requires your password when Mac restarts.”

You always need to enter your password (with the keyboard) the when you first start up the Mac. After that initial password entry, Touch ID works. Just like an iPhone, which requires the password when first turned on then uses Face ID/Touch ID.

When you say, "...will not accept my password," do you mean you cannot log in even with your password via keyboard? If that's the case, Touch ID is not the problem.
