Bluetooth connection issues with Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler uConnect 8.4 (2011-2014 generation)

This is a continuation of this thread:

In which many users reported serious connection problems between iPhones running iOS 13 and cars with the uConnect 8.4 system. Specifically, it seems that with an Apple Watch (or potentially any other Bluetooth device) connected I and many others are unable to connect to our cars about 90% of the time. With the Apple Watch turned off, I have experienced zero issues with Bluetooth connectivity to the car.

I was curious if anyone here has found any real solutions to the problem. I haven’t gotten the chance to try iOS 14 on my phone since I don’t have a developer account, but if that works I might go ahead and get one. Aside from that, I have tried the following:

  • Disconnect car battery for 20 minutes to reset uConnect
  • Perform a hard restart on my phone
  • Reset my Apple Watch
  • Check uConnect for updates, none available
  • Tried pairing other phones to the car

The last one is what confirms to me this is definitely an iOS issue. In the original post there were plenty of users discussing how the issue showed up after updating from iOS 12 to 13, and the fact that other phones don’t have the same issue at all (even with smart watches connected to them). My next step if iOS 14 doesn’t seem to fix it is to go directly to Apple support and try for a phone replacement, but especially with the pandemic that’s a hassle I don’t really want to go through.
