Logitech H390 headset not working with mac

Hello,

I recently bought a Logitech H390 headset and it's not working with my Mac. I have a MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch (2015).

I plug my headset into the laptop and once I play anything with sound, I can only hear a very loud static sound. Coincidentally, when I use the headset in my work laptop, which is a PC, the headset works perfectly.

Both Logitech and Apple themselves have said that I need to update the MacBook in order to "update the drivers" but they can't guarantee whether that will actually work. I am very uneasy about updating my Mac to Catalina (I am using Mojave 10.14.6), since I am aware it will cause a lot of my applications to stop working.

Does anyone know of any other way to get this headset to work on Mac?

It seems odd both would recommend upgrading to Catalina without knowing if that would help.

I would try resetting the SMC and NVRAM first. Test after doing each.
