I purchased and use my new Macbook Pro for my faculty university position; complete with it's own Apple ID. However, my personal devices are utilized through my personal Apple ID. How can I sync both together to enable iMessages on my new laptop?

You can sync, using iCoud.com., many things including messages; Photos; and Desktop and Documents items. I think you realize it, but you can't combine Apple ID accounts.

If you want all your messages synced, one option for the computer is to sign into Messages/FaceTime using your personal ID. Use the professional ID for everything else.
