Issues after a swim in the beach

So I took my Apple Watch Series 3 to the beach and had a nice swim. When I got out of the water and took it out of water mode, I noticed the sound wasn't like it usually is. I did it a few more times, no water comes out and the sound is still bad. When I get home I realize that the digital crown sounds like it has sand in it. It's rough to rotate and pressing it makes a crunch sound. How should I go about fixing this?
