Apple TV second generation. Doesn't appear to support/access AppleTV plus

Apple TV gen 2. Doesn't appear to support/access AppleTV plus, when attempting to mirror from my macbook, audio plays and video is blacked out. When attempting to view from Apple TV (2) and after entering password w/code, "accessing TV) spins forever, which is longer than my projected lifespan. What to do?

Apple TV (2nd generation) is not supported for Apple TV+, unfortunately not even through AirPlay.

Nothing else to do with this model …

Its a 10 year old device. Is it unreasonable to think it may not support the newest features and require a slightly newer device for that?

Do you expect it to support every new feature forever?

When would be a good time to upgrade it? Most people upgrade cars and wives to newer models in less time than that Apple TV has. Nobody complains about that do they?
