In the process of migrating from an old mac to new a power failure occured. Since then restarting only gets the progress bar about 90% to the end....then hangs. I have tried a number of fixes including, first aid and trying to reload Catalina OS but nothing works.
Looking for ideas.

Thank you for your suggestion. Tried that but will not open in safe mode. I did get it to open to a utility that accessed first aid, terminal and reload OS option and did offer safari for help and wifi but those options did not work.

Gulp... sounds like you'll have to have Apple look at it, but...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
