Hi Amynthys.

Thanks for following up and letting us know that the issue is not that the sound is not heard.

You mentioned that the volume is changing on your iPhone. If you're using an iPhone X or later, please check to see if 'Attention Aware Features' is enabled. This setting allows the TrueDepth camera to check to see if you're looking at the iPhone, and will then lower the volume of alerts: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro - Apple Support.

If there is no change, or if that feature is turned off, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Do you have 'Change with Buttons' turned on or off? Does it make a difference if it's on or off, or does the same behavior remain?

To be sure that we've covered all the basics, have you also tried restarting your iPhone with these steps: Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists let us know which apps you're seeing this issue with.

Also, what is the iOS version number showing when you go to Settings > General > About > Software Version?

Take care.

Well, definitely related to the car audio system and the phone. I can no longer rely on my phone as an alarm and am considering replacing the phone part of the phone with some sort of flip phone just to have a functioning phone with regular text that I can hear notifications for.

Apple now sells devices they call phones but now fall into the category of sketchy trial devices and you pay to be a guinea pig tester.

Yes, I’ve turned the attention aware features off back in March. On or off it still happens. Also tried the change volume with buttons. On or off it still happens. It’s beyond not being able to hear the volume. It decreases on its own. The moderator edited my initial post so not sure if you read it. I turn it up, I watch it go back down. Over and over again.

The bottom line is that obviously there is a volume problem with many of our phones. I cannot hear when I receive a phone call. The volume adjusts itself and i cannot hear the person on other end. I have to place them on speaker phone to hear. Half the time my phone doesnt ring despite volume being turned all the way up....it adjusts itself. My phone is required for my job as Im often on call. When I miss a phone due to Apple I get a dependability infraction which leads to termination after so many. I'm being forced to move away from Apple. On Bluetooth, off bluetooth, doesnt matter my volume for my ringer and my volume to hear the person on the other end is adjusting itself. Why Apple knows about this and arent fixing it, is beyond me and tells me Apple is corrupt in the way it makes it's money. Deleting posts that state issues where Apple is at fault is corrupt. I have attempted every option provided on the Apple threads for this issue and it does not work . I have the Xs Max.

Hey all!

This is a post from original thread thats over a year old that Apple support says was solved; well it is not!

It’s an ongoing problem.

I Am currently in my 2020 gmc truck. iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 14 software update . Prior to entering the vehicle, I Turned volume to max on my phone. Started truck, connected to Bluetooth and ringer volume automatically lowered. Turned ignition off, exited the vehicle and ringer was lowered. So for me the problem still exist!

I also have GM engineer checking into this from my dealership.

As far as plantronics goes, if you hook it to your computer or go into settings through their app( depending on model) there’s a setting to make your phone ring while paired. This helped me with calls but did nothing for other alerts. I have found that with 2 phones connected to the same Bluetooth device only one phone is affected with the volume lowering. I don’t understand that but it’s been consistent for the last few weeks
