iTunes on my usb

i have transferred my playlists to a usb stick, but they all come up as m4p format. When I have tried to convert them to mp3, I get a message saying that m4p files cannot be converted as they are protected. How can I listen to my music on a usb stick in the car?

Kosta,

That is correct, m4p files cannot be converted as they are protected.

If you want unprotected files to play in your car, you can purchase them from the iTunes Store (average price around USD 1.29) or other download retailers, or you can rip them from CDs.
