Wifi drops when I connect usb c hub on Macbook Pro 2019

Hi all, I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro 2019. I also bought the usb c hub from the same dealer, it is supposed to be Apple recommend.

The issue is every time I connect any usb hub the wifi drops. I wen’t to the official dealer and they say the mac is fine. Has anybody had the same issue? is there any workaround for it?

Thanks a lot.

Hi oscarjc19,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that when you connect a USB-C hub to your Mac the Wi-Fi signal drops. We can see why you'd reach out about this; we can provide some information. What you're experiencing sounds like interference caused by the USB-C hub:

"USB 3 devices can create wireless interference that affects Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices. Learn how to resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference."

About USB on Mac computers

"How to reduce wireless interference

If you're using USB 3 or Thunderbolt 3 devices with your computer, you can limit their potential to interfere with nearby wireless devices:

    • Use a high-quality, shielded USB or Thunderbolt 3 cable with each device.
    • Move your USB 3 or Thunderbolt 3 devices—including any USB hubs—farther away from your wireless devices.
    • Avoid placing USB 3 or Thunderbolt 3 devices on top of your Mac Pro, Mac notebook, or Mac mini.
    • Turn off any USB 3 devices that aren't in use."

We hope this information helps!

Best Regards.
