Followed all instructions, "In app purchases aren't allowed on this device" when trying to purchase a movie. I have an account, no Apple device. Using my smart tv. Help!

Followed all instructions to set up account, U/N, P/W billing, etc. for apple tv+ on my firestick tv. Watched "Greyhound", no problem. Tried to watch "Without a Clue" got blocked with:

"In app purchases aren't allowed on this device. To watch here, you must have purchased or rented this movie or episode on an Apple device."

What? NO! Was this a trick! Please help me before they make me drink the apple flavored cool aid!

Sorry, it's been a long day getting this to work so I could watch Greyhound (it was great), but I'm very disappointed with the glitches, I might cancel if there's no support.

Thanks

FireTVStick(Gen2),

You should use a device that allows these purchases. That includes Apple devices, but also iTunes on Windows, or other third party streaming devices.

Unfortunately, there is currently no agreement between Apple and Amazon about the use of each others store for in-app purchases. This means that you can’t subscribe or make purchases for Apple services on Fire TV devices [1]. You will have to do that step on a different device, e.g. on the device that you used to get the Apple TV+ subscription.
