iMac: apple HDD hard drive. Could not mount “disk0s2”. error -119930868.

Hi there,

It was of a sudden that my imac could not mount the HDD drive and could not start. A flashing question mark with folder was shown on screen. I tried to use OS recovery mode and restart the iMac using external system disk, I could see the tag of the HDD drive but could not mount it. The error code is 119930868. I guess it was related to the recent upgrade of iMac to Catalina. Does anyone have similar issue recently? Is there any way to remount the disk with minimal loss of my data and files? Thanks very much!

iMac 27″, macOS 10.14

This could be due to any number of problems. You haven't told us the age, model or OS of your Mac. It could be a hard drive failure. Have you tried to restart in the Safe mode, by holding down the Shift key on restart. This can fix many problems. Also, in that mode, you have access to the Disk Utility app, which may fix certain problems. Otherwise, please provide as much information as possible as to what is and is not happening and I am sure someone here can be of help to you. Best of luck to you.
