Hello I have a mac mini server 2012.
The Mac Mini supports dual display with resolution support of 1920×1200 and also has a 2nd display support of 2560×1600.
I have purchased a 4k monitor. Is there a way to get the display to use 2560 x 1600?

How are you connecting that 4K to your Late 2012 Mac Mini?
The Late 2012 Mac Mini only supports Thunderbolt and DisplayPort Displays at 2560 x 1600 from the Mini DisplayPort. HDMI to HDMI will give you 1080p at 60Hz or perhaps something a little better at 30Hz.

Yes a Thunderbolt 2 aka Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable would be better if the 4K has DisplayPort input.

FWIW you won't get 4K from your 2012 Mac Mini, but you should be able to get the advertised 2560 x 1600.
It is connected with a thunderbolt from the mini that is an adapter taking an hdmi cord to the hdmi input in the monitor. Do I need to get a thunderbolt to display port cord?
