no longer get a "low battery" warning OS Catalina 10.15.5

For years, whenever I got down to 10 or 15% of battery power, I would get a warning to recharge. Some months ago, I can't rcall how many, this warning ceased. I have gone into the energy saver, "show battery status in menu bar" is checked. It does show the status in the bar, but it won't give me an alert, like it used to. Any ideas how I can get this OS to once again give an alert?
