How to change iCloud email address

How do you change/delet/add aliases for your iCloud email address? I’ve read the posts about going into iCloud.com, clicking on the mail icon, clicking the gear icon, then going to preferences, but after I click the mail icon I don’t see a gear icon. Is there another way to do this or has the way this has been done in the past changed?
