Can I use the Lightning Digital AV Adapter to screen extend from my early 2015 MacBook Pro to my iPad Air?

I want to try to screen extend my early-2015 MacBook Pro to my iPad Air (2019), could I do this with an HDMI cable running from my MacBook Pro to my iPad using the Lightning Digital AV Adapter?

Not looking to mirror display. I'm looking to use it as a screen extension to extend my screen workspace.

I cannot use sidecar since my MacBook Pro is too old for that, it does not support it. I would need to buy a new MacBook Pro to use that feature.
