Disable or Cancel Autoplay on Apple TV+ in Browser

Hi there,

I'm watching an episode of a TV series on Apple TV Plus in a web browser, and when the credits begin at the end of an episode, a small card pops up on the bottom right, with a loading circle / countdown until the next episode auto-plays. Here's a screenshot:

I can't figure out how to stop this from progressing, nor how to disable this from coming up in the first place. I've tried:

-Clicking in the main part of the window, where the show is displayed

-Clicking in the bottom portion of the window, underneath the progress bar

-Pausing the episode

-Clicking the card itself

-Hitting spacebar, Enter, Shift, and other keys

-(Safari only) Went to 'Settings for this website' and turned 'Auto-Play' to 'Never Auto-Play,' quit and restarted the browser and tried again

None of these actions has caused the countdown to stop, and the next episode starts up automatically. I'm trying to watch through the whole credits, but it doesn't seem possible unless there's a way to stop this auto play?

I went up to the profile circle link in the top right of the webpage, clicked on Settings to try and find if I could disable this altogether, but it just sends me to what looks to be my Apple account settings. Nothing specific to Apple TV+ was listed.

I'm running the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox on a MacBook Pro and a Windows 10 PC. On both computers, and in every browser, this happens every time, and the auto play progression is unstoppable.

So my question is how can I stop a TV show in Apple TV+ from autoplaying in a browser? If I can't turn off this setting altogether, is there a way to stop the countdown once it's begun? Thanks in advance!

There isn’t a setting described in the linked page, and I don’t see one in the iPhone or Apple TV settings that allows you to change this and watch the credits.

If you change ‘up next’ to ‘what to watch’ the programme simply stops abruptly and switches to the TV home screen without warning instead of jumping to the next episode.

Every episode of ‘See’ I’ve watched so far on Apple TV plus has ended before the last shot, and I have to go back, go to ‘more episodes’ choose the previous one and scroll to the end to watch it and the credits.

There must be a way to switch this on?? - every other streaming service lets you choose to actually watch to the end of an episode/movie.

Hi Teddy_B,

Thanks for the info! So if I log into the TV+ app and make the change, would it carry over to other viewing methods? For instance, let's say I go into the app, and make the change to turn this feature off, and save the settings. If I went into my browser and watched content, would the setting be saved there as well?

It is unfortunate this isn't available in web browsers yet, but I will for sure be submitting feedback.

Thanks again!

Hey Jendon,

It sounds like you're wanting to disable the Up Next feature when using a web browser to watch Apple TV+.

There are steps you can take to disable this feature on your devices, including a Mac using the Apple TV app. The steps for that are under "Change settings" here: Watch movies, TV shows, and live content in the Apple TV app - Apple Support. However, there is not currently a setting for disabling this on a web browser. You can leave feedback about this here: Product Feedback - Apple.

Have a great day.
