SCAM? Class Action Notice: In re Apple Inc. Device Performance Litigation

"If you are or were a U.S. owner of an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, and/or SE device that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later before December 21, 2017, and/or a U.S. owner of an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus device that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017, you could be entitled to benefits under a class action settlement."

Tipoff to a scam: The web form asked for my device serial # (fine) but then it asked for my Apple ID! As the form says, "Your Apple ID is the account you use to sign in to all Apple services." Needless to say, I did NOT give them my Apple ID, and I see no reason they would need that. Just wanted to let people know about a possible scam.

Ah Ha! If they have that much information about the serial number then why just issue an error message without an explanation? They must know why you are not in the database. In the case of the iphone7 it just dawned on me that you had to download 11.2 or 11.2.1 before December 21 2017 and probably not everyone downloaded 11.2 (December 2, 2017) or 11.2.1 (December 13, 2017) by December 21, 2017. That is a very small window to qualify with an iphone7. So I can see why most iphone7 owners will not qualify.

Well this was a fun diversion.

They could make this a whole lot easier.

Ive been having battery issues for years my phone would just shut down with 30% battery left. I still use my iphone 6s and have to be connected to a charger because I cant afford a new phone. $25 does me absolutely nothing for living with with years of crappy performance and yet I still have to continue to use it.

Can I forgo the $25 and at the very least get a new iphone 7 to replace? Thats still 4 generations old! I dont want something for nothing, but I also want a properly working phone that I can use without spending 2k.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the window of opportunity for iphone7 was very short because you had to download 11.0 or 11.1 by December 21, 2017. I did not have my iphone7 setup to automatically update the new IOS. I always wait a few weeks since there have been occasionally a few updates that had “issues” and thus another update fairly quickly. IOS 11.1 was released about 2 weeks after 11.0. So in my situation my iphone7 isn’t eligible because I didn’t down load IOS 11.0 or 11.1 before December 21, 2017.

I just received one of these in the mail and have been wondering the same thing. The part the kind of made me question it, is that it states "Do not contact the Court for information about the settlement". I mean there could be a reason why, I've never received anything like this so I don't know what is procedural or not. I just found it weird that it specifically mentioned not to contact the court..
