Hey there Rivergarden,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having issues adding remote accessories with the Home app. We’ll be happy to help with this.

If the Home app itself is missing, try downloading it from the App Store. Here’s a link so you can download this to your iPhone:

‎Home on the App Store

Once you have the Home app installed, you should be able to open it up and start adding accessories with it right away. Take a look at this article for more info:

Set up and use the Home app

In Settings you should be able to find HomeKit in Privacy > HomeKit and this is where you can allow access for apps to access your Home data.

If you’re not seeing this, delete the Home app from your iPhone, then check for iOS updates:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone and install Home once more:

Restart your iPhone

See if you can use Home and add accessories as expected then.

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Hey Rivergarden,

Thanks for providing those details. If you’re still having issues accessing this feature, we'd like to confirm that you have a home hub set up as follows:

Set up your HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub

Also note that to control accessories remotely, your home hub would need to meet the following requirements:

Apple TV (3rd generation) doesn’t support remote access for shared users or remote access to HomeKit enabled cameras."

Could you also tell us which device specifically is being used as a home hub? When you open the Home app on your iPhone, are you currently able to control accessories?

Regards.

thanks for you time to respond to my query. I checked all settings and they sounds good. See the attached image where the remote access is greyed out.

I need to change this setting to have access. I am the owner of this account and my family members (users) have remote access to the device that are connected to this smart home.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
