how do i turn off the two factor auth on my desk top pc, when trying to open my icloud email....

You cannot turn off two-factor authentication if it has been on for two weeks or longer. See information in Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support
When using a 3rd party mail application you use an app-specific password rather than your usual Apple password. See:
