Hi Raina,
Thank you for your suggestions.
Yes I called Apple support and they said it would cost $200 to send the watch to Apple and fix it (so they can resetting the OS version).
$200 for a problem I did not cause. It was caused by a software bug following a WatchOS update.
I would not recommend people buy Apple watches. Even if you do your best to keep your device in very good condition, Apple can break your device remotely via a software update and force you to pay $200 to fix it.
I am very disappointed, esp since I’m an Apple power user.

Hey nabil40,
It sounds like your Apple Watch is not starting up correctly.
Try restarting the Apple Watch normally, and if that doesn't work, try force restarting. The steps for a normal restart and force restart can be found here: How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support.
If that doesn't help, consider unpairing the Apple Watch then try setting it up again. When you unpair the Apple Watch, the data will be erased from your Apple Watch but a backup is also created. You can still make a manual backup using these steps: Back up your Apple Watch.
When you're ready, use these steps to unpair and erase the Apple Watch: Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone. Then pair and set it up again: Set up your Apple Watch.
Keep us updated.
Hi Sterling,
i have done the forced restart hundreds of times and it does not work.
I unpaired my watch, and now I can’t pair it because my watch is stuck on the Apple screen and keeps rebooting.
i suspect this is a software issue caused by Apple to force me to buy a new watch.
I’m the same way, Apple logo stuck for days. It’s been a week and I’ve been trying hard reset let the phone die and charge it back again and still the same issue. I was told I would have to pay to repair something I didn’t do! Frustrating!!!!
Hey nabil40,
Thanks for reaching back out. If you erased the content and settings as outlined in the above article after unpairing the Apple Watch, and if it's still stuck on the Apple logo, reach out for additional assistance here: Get Support.
Have a great day.
Did you ever get a resolution?! I have tried several attempts to restart it. Even did a factory reset on it. Updated to the latest version after it fought me several times. Worked for a about a day or so and now it’s back to doing the same thing!! It started fairly recently. What is going on?
Honestly, this was NOT caused by the consumer! There should be no reason why we are the ones that need to pay for a repair on this. How convenient that it is outside of the warranty period when this happens.
Because it’s among the best available ways to learn about the breadth of issues and problems and UI design messes across various Apple software (without working for Apple). That, and helping folks who might not be not native speakers of English, or might not be not tech savvy, or might not in the clearest frame of mind due to frustration or other factors, is a challenge for communications skills; on how to fathom and resolve an issue, with limited information, and potentially with an evasive or misdirecting or confused or trolling questioner.
My series 5 has done the same thing I’ve tried hard reset everything the only other thing I can think of is to let the watch completely die and then charge or disconnect the battery and reconnect to try and reboot the watch will try both of these things to see if they work it’s so frustrating !!
Any change? My series 3 has been stuck in a loop asking if I want to erase all content and settings for the past 24 hours. I have tried everything in the forums. Apple is backed up with appointments, so it is not easy to get in. Just wondering if anyone found a solution?
We have 2 watches and two phones. We’ve tried everything at this point. Factory wipe and restart. Synchronized as new watch. No apps. We swapped the watches. It still doing random boot loops. i don’t think it’s a hardware issue.
on latest update for phone and watch.
to get Apple to fix takes over a week for an appointment.
sucks.
It’s definitely software related. It hasn’t happened to me again since my last post. I just left it dead for about a week and charged it up and it started working again. I just updated to 7 as well and was worried it would happen again.
I suggest running the watch battery down so that it is shut down completely
then put it on the charger and unpair it
then set it up as new
I had to do this with my series 3 to get watchos 7 installed
I took mine to the Apple store and got there early for the walk ups. Not all stores offer this and you need to be EARLY. They took it for a week and ended up sending me a new one. I was still under warranty, so no cost. I don't think there is an easy fix, unfortunately.
I'm having this same issue. The first issue that happened to me was that the touch screen became completely unresponsive. After hours of rebooting, updating, unpairing and repairing, I gave up and put the watch away. Support was not willing to help other than sending it in to pay for a repair or replacement. After weeks of just sitting there, I plugged it back in just to see if it would work. It came up but the display was acting funny. I unpaired and re-paired and it started working again. But then after two weeks, it went to this boot loop issue and nothing seems to be working. I would love to hear if anybody is able to get out of it somehow.
