I have this same problem. How did you fix it?
Hi Raina,
Thank you for your suggestions.
Yes I called Apple support and they said it would cost $200 to send the watch to Apple and fix it (so they can resetting the OS version).
$200 for a problem I did not cause. It was caused by a software bug following a WatchOS update.
I would not recommend people buy Apple watches. Even if you do your best to keep your device in very good condition, Apple can break your device remotely via a software update and force you to pay $200 to fix it.
I am very disappointed, esp since I’m an Apple power user.
Of course! I am not done with this until we have a resolution from Apple directly.
If you need help getting the watch going, I advise my method. Brute force an unpairing. What I mean by that is, get the watch on, even if it will only get into the infinite boot loop that is fine. Get your phone close by and try to time clicking unpair with one of the boot loops. I have had TONS of luck getting the watch to actually unpair even when in boot loop if I can get this timed well. Once unpaired, just set it back up (I usually choose new watch), and then change all those settings to see how it works.
Idk about anyone else, but I feel VERY confident it was in fact related to my Wyze app and the camera updates. Ever since turning off those notifications I have had ZERO boot loops. Well, I should say, not that I have noticed. Hard to know for 100% certainty when you aren’t looking at the watch every minute of every day. I just hope Apple can get this fixed as I miss seeing those notifications on my wrist.
Do your think Apple, this is still an issue, FIX PLEASE!
I haven’t heard of Wyze so didn’t have it on my phone / watch. But my issue seems different to a lot of you in this forum. Mine would be in a boot loop after turning it off and trying to turn on on again later. Didn’t randomly reboot on its own.
mine would reboot all day and all night until the battery died. And apple had to reset it for me under warranty.
Mine has the same problem but I can’t even hard reset or unpair it. It is stuck on apple logo.
I left 20 days out of charger but when I put it back to charge. It showed the charging logo and then stuck again on apple boot logo loop.
It’s out of wareanty and they want to charge me almost the price of a new one.
this is ridiculous since it is clearly a software problem.
Same problem here
in Brazil the price to “fix” its to pay R$3.800 that is about $717 and they give me a new one.
Apple is talking about ESG, but how they will be compliant when they do this? Replace watch for 3 x price in a poor Country like Brazil and discard battery, plastic, etc??!!
that the last thing that I buy I’m Apple ever!!!
now they really make me hate this Apple!!!
Mine is solved I guess, but not solved at the same time. I haven’t had a boot loop in months. I worked with Apple Advisors and it was determined that the issue was related to an app. Specifically in my case the “Wyze” App. It is an app linked to my security cameras I have that when motion is detected it would send notifications with pictures to my phone/watch. I guess the pictures create an issue with the watch, and it would “freak out” and cause the boot loop. I simply turned off the notifications from the app and I haven’t had a problem. It sounds like an Apple software issue, but I wonder if it is also just an issue with the Wyze app or any security camera type of app. Maybe they could fix something about the type/size of the image that is sent as a notification.
Long story short, I think the boot loop issue is related to issues with notifications with photos in them. I think people would find help if they looked into that on their watches.
it’s a bummer that I had to turn it off, as it should just work, but I hope and I give them the benefit of the doubt that I hope they can fix it.
The Watch is a great product otherwise.
My S4 has had this plus calling SOS, taking random pictures and opening apps up. Was taken in to John Lewis, overseen by Apple and was told there was NO FAULT FOUND!!!!
Each time it returned it lasted 24-48 hours then the SOS issue followed by bootloop.
End of November it was returned for a third time and I was told my warranty would be extended. End of November SOS happened again - John Lewis denied the extra warranty saying there was nothing wrong with it, telling me to call Apple.
After several calls Apple assistant helped unpair their watch that stuck it in the bootloop again and nothing gets it out. Left unplugged for 5 hours - Logo then black screen - force restart - black screen.
Left on charge for 8 hours and it bootlooped the whole time.
Repair is dearer than trade in but now it doesn’t stay on so will probably get less trade in value.
Not happy - WAC
I'm using Apple watch since 2018. I'm fully satisfied with it. I mostly use it to train my pet and set timing on it.
No resolution. Watch is still broken.
Apple wants us to cough up $200 to fix the watch after they remotely broke it for us.
classic $2 trillion company tactic.
Same issue here. My series 4 just out of no where. Can't hard reset, it is rebooting too quickly. Can't factory reset, can't unpair. It's a paperweight at this point.
I left mine to die and stay dead for like 5 days as a paperweight. Turned it back on today. Looks like it comes and goes. I won’t be surprised that by tomorrow it will be doing the same thing.
Yes and have done so in the past with older iPhones. I believe you. I hate updates. And the last time I typed those words they took my post down
Looks like that may have worked for me. Today I checked the watch and it’s still not rebooting. Will keep monitoring.
It’s been working for me after leaving it dead for about a week. It seems like it’s recovered but I’m still skeptical.
Im on 6.2.8
my Apple Series 4 Nike + just out of warranty has the same problem and won’t charge now either. Just going through reboot constantly. Only happened when the watch fully discharged.
