Alex, thanks for the 'try'. I am working with an SE 2020. At 'settings' - 'phone' there is no link to "Show my caller ID". Too bad Apple doesn'tprovide a link to a live contact (email, voice call-back or something) there. Will keep trying. Too many calls don't get answered because of this. Thanks again.

Then you need to call your carrier and ask them to enable it.
Apple does provide callback and chat if you click on the Contact Support link at the top of this page, or DM @AppleSupport on Twitter, or just call support directly, but all they will tell you is to contact your carrier.
You may your Caller ID disabled.
Open Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Show my Caller ID - Set this to ON.
