Internet Connection

I just bought a new iPhone SE and am having an issues getting it to connect to the internet, any suggestions? I try and enter my apple ID and password to complete transferring my info but it never verifies due to a failure to connect. I have verified the phone and gotten the codes to upload online but am missing most of my apps that show as waiting.
