catalina reset PRAM

I'm not sure what caused the change, however I'm on 10.15.6 and on booting I tried to reset the PRAM. The screen lit up and then went blank once and when the screen came back the machine was booting normally.

I have been using OS X since Jaguar and am totally used to waiting for the screen to reset itself three times before letting go of the keys and resume booting.

Have I got an error with my firmware of has the PRAM reset protocol been rewritten, requiring only a single reset event rather than three ... ??

I bet that the MacBook that you used with Jaguar was an older model and not the one that you are using currently with Catalina. The point that I am trying to make is that the newer MacBook Pros (The ones with the T2 Chip especially) only reset once, just like you described, when resetting the NVRAM/PRAM. I also know what you are talking about with the older MacBooks. The older ones will continue to reset for as longs as you held the keys down.

Your MacBook Pro is fine.
