A52Codec.component” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.

I get the following message when I try to Quick Look certain video files in the M4V format. The video was converted from MKV using Handbrake. The preset I used was the provided Apple 1080p60 Surround.


I have to click Cancel three times for the dialogue to go away. If I click Move to Trash I get this error message:


The video will play in VLC, Safari, and Beamer, but not Finder and not Quicktime.



What do I need to do to get this video to play in Quicktime and the Finder? Why is this error message so cryptic and persistent (requiring three Cancels to go away)?


I’m beginning to think “It just works” is a load of dung.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15
