Random icloud message?

Hi everyone,

Something strange just happened. I just received a message from [insertName1]@iCloud.com asking me who I am and that [insertName2] is wondering who I was as [insertName2] has my number.

They did not send any links, ask anything apart from my name (did not give it) and was just generally wondering who I was as their "friend" had my contact information and even sent me a screenshot of an iMessage history asking "who is [my phone number.]"

Found it a bit weird since only my friends and family have my phone number and none of them would do something like this. I have already checked all the websites where my number is used but it is not displayed publicly.

Anyone else have a similar experience or know what is going on? I assumed it was some sort of scam or that I had won the unlucky lottery and someone randomly spoofed my number but it seems far fetched, and the only shady thing I had received recently was an obviously fake PayPal text scam (I do not even have PayPal.)

Only other thing that could be relevant was that I connected to public WiFi (sim provider network.)

iPhone info in case it's relevant:

  • Device: iPhone 11
  • iOS: 13.4.1

Thank you in advance.
