Apple Watch backup without the paired iPhone

Recently I bought a new phone and during the data transfer, my old phone crashed, and there was nothing I could do but restore my phone to the factory settings then restore it to a backup. The problem is that I apparently did not set up my iCloud backup correctly (unbeknownst to me before the crash), and my "most recent" iPhone backup in iTunes on my computer (a PC) was from 2018 (before I got my apple watch). My watch is still working as if it's paired to my old phone (a 6S+) with contacts and information that is no longer on my (now) restored iPhone.

I did not realize I needed to unpair my watch before the data transfer, and everything I'm reading says that my apple watch data will be backed up on my phone, but I lost all of that when I had to restore my phone, so am I resigning myself to losing all of my apple watch data to pair it to my new phone?

Hello Dannigirl93,

It sounds like your iPhone had an issue and needed to be restored and as it turns out the iPhone was not backing up to iCloud and the most recent back up is from 2018 before you had your Apple Watch. So when your iPhone backs up to iCloud it also makes a copy of your Apple Watch. During the unpairing process the Apple Watch is backed up again. Since the iPhone was not backing up to iCloud and the iPhone was restored to a time before it was paired with the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch is not paired with the iPhone and cannot be backed up. You can try to save any new contacts on to the iPhone, but to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone, you will have to erase the Apple Watch and pair it again, Check out these links for support.
