I made copies of a picture, creating png, tiff and heic versions.
By comparison the heic version was incredibly small. Maybe 1/10tht the size.
Is the Heic still equal in quality? Png and tiff are lossless formats, I believe, so I was wondering.

That sounds about right.
For most purposes, it will be absolutely fine.
After all, HEIC may be seen as "better, modern JPEG", and this very compressed image format has served as quite well for, what... 30 years?
