Setting up new iPad

I am trying to set up an iPad and it keeps saying verification failed. That there is an error connecting to the Apple ID server. I am not to sure what that means?

trouble setting up new ipad mini I have a new ipad mini. I've tried to set it up both automatically, from my iPhone, and manually, when that didn't work. Each time I enter my Apple ID and password I get a notification that there was an error connecting to the Apple ID server. I've searched online for suggestions, but so far nothing has worked. I generated a verification code from my iPhone and entered it in place of the password, but got the same error message. This is a new iPad mini 4 with Retina display.
