trouble setting up new ipad mini

I have a new ipad mini. I've tried to set it up both automatically, from my iPhone, and manually, when that didn't work. Each time I enter my Apple ID and password I get a notification that there was an error connecting to the Apple ID server. I've searched online for suggestions, but so far nothing has worked. I generated a verification code from my iPhone and entered it in place of the password, but got the same error message. This is a new iPad mini 4 with Retina display.

Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.


Try a restart.


Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Try a forced restart.
