Poor sound quality when placing FaceTime calls iphone8

Everytime I receive or make normal Phone or FaceTime Audio calls the other persons sound is distorted, almost like their mic is set too sensitive. When receiving an audio message in iMessage the audio sounds perfectly fine. It’s pretty annoying to use this phone on a daily basis. Tried the LTE on of VOLte etc, WiFi on off, nothing works. When using the loudspeaker no issues. Both phones do not have a case or anything covering the mics/ speakers. Anyone else?
