apps using data

Why would apps on my phone all of a sudden be eating my data in the background when my phone use behaviour hasn't changed? I'm running out of data each of the last 2 months.

Mobile Data not turning on To save data, I turned off data for certain apps (like Snapchat and Instagram) and now I can’t turn it back on. The switch turns on but as soon as I exit settings it turns it back off. You may --> Check the cellular data usage on your iPhone and iPad ...
