I am unable to select Apple ID, messages, and FaceTime in settings?

I cannot send or receive iMessages on my iPad mini. It is set up via family sharing with my son’s Apple ID. However, the Apple ID, messages and FaceTime are all shaded in settingS, not allowing me to select. When I open messages, a screen pops up to re-enter my son’s password, however it will not allow me to select and enter. I have done all of the first steps...turn off, checked settings via my iphone, and no change. Thanks for your help.

Have you checked Settings/Screen Time for any restrictions?
