New MacBook Air

I want to use my apple id from my iphone on my macbook air but I do not want my messages or anything else besides photos to be synced. Is that possible? I just dont want to take up too much space on the the macbook air if that makes sense.

Can I use a different Apple ID just for Messages? My work iMac is logged into iCloud using my personal Apple ID, which I use for my personal iPhone. This has been convenient, as I can use the Messages app on the iMac to easily read/write text messages sent to my iPhone. I would like to create a new Apple ID just for my work, and have my work iMac log into that, so that there is a cleaner separation between work and personal, and, I'd be able to have the iMac backup files to the iCloud (currently I have that mostly turned off, so that my work iMac does not use up my 200 GB iCloud storage allowance.) But I'd like to be able to keep using my personal Apple ID for Messages. Is that possible? Or will it confuse the iMac? I thought I should ask before trying.... Thanks.

New Apple ID My iPhone and Macbook Air is connected to my husband's Apple ID (he has a Macbook Pro). However, I want to create a new Apple ID for my devices. However, I am afraid that once I logout from my devices and login using my new Apple ID, I will lose all data from my iPhone viz. my messages and photos. How can I connect without losing any data?

Yes, you can choose what to sync. iMessages will only sync if you enable the account in iMessage (and texts only if you enable forwarding in your phone). Mail will only sync if you add the email account in Mail. Etc.
