issue retrieving office 365 mail

A few weeks ago I started having issues with the MacOS Mail client not fetching new messages from Office 365. Have tried restarting, refreshing, and even re-initialising the mail app but nothing works reliably. Randomly it will fetch new mail and synchronise either on restart or overnight, but nothing reliably.

Cannot see anything useful in console, and google isn't helping either so I'm out of ideas.

Mail is working fine with other accounts, and O365 is working fine with other clients.

Anyone had this issue before? (and hopefully solved it)

If that does not work, consider contact Microsoft Support. Perhaps these is something going on with their servers.

To Contact Microsoft Support:

Start Here: Microsoft Contact Us Virtual Agent - Microsoft Support

Also, Reset your Modem/Router:

If outgoing/incoming mail is not working then, reset the modem/router - unplug it for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It may take up to a minute for all connections to reset. Perhaps, there was utility work down the street, and that would be an example as to why you may need to reset it.

Remove Security Software:

Its enabled VPN (Virtual Private Network) settings would most certain get in the way of network traffic. Use an uninstaller. Get the uninstaller from the Developer and none other. Elsewise, it might be malware or spyware you install.

Did you contact Microsoft?

Did you reset your Modem/Router?

Outgoing Issues:

So, if it is being received intermittently, try this link: If you can’t receive emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support.

Reset the SMC and your NVRAM:

Sometimes when changes are made to the system(i.e. updates), system configurations (i.e. for Networking and for Mail) become manipulated, technically. So, reset the SMC and NVRAM. Your hard drive may not be being read promptly, so resetting these, outgoing (and incoming) networking should interact as intended.

And if VPN is required for work? You might want to consider these things before you give advice. If I took your suggestion I would not be able to work.

Considering this person is connecting to an O365 account, this is most likely for work purposes. Nobody sets up an O365 account for personal use.
