Using Apple Mail to create a Mailbox under the Inbox

Hello, by default Apple Mail does not create an INBOX/Mailbox-IMAP-folder but a /Mailbox-IMAP-folder instead.

This is annoying because it means Apple Mail, by default, cannot be used to create a real IMAP folder. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251610098?answerId=253108233022#253108233022 .

How can I get Apple Mail to join the rest of the world and have its "Mailbox"'s reflect true INBOX/IMAP-folders?
