Mac System Preferences in iCloud

Why to save Mac (and iPhone) System Preferences to iCloud? It is not clear the use of this feature, maybe is intended for people which don't make Time Machine backups to external disks?

It sounds like you are wondering why System Preferences is included in the list of apps that store data in iCloud. Data that is stored in iCloud is not included in a Time Machine backup. So, it is a good idea to save System Preferences like the ones below:
