"In-app purchases aren't allowed on this device." (Fire TV Cube Gen 2)

I'm trying to rent a movie via my Apple TV+ app, but I keep getting "In-app purchases aren't allowed on this device." Streaming device is Fire TV Cube (Gen 2).

Help!

  • “You can’t subscribe or make purchases for Apple services on Fire TV devices.” [1]

Unfortunately, there is currently no agreement between Apple and Amazon about the use of in-app purchases. To work around that, you will have to do the purchasing/renting/subscription transaction on a different device. Once completed, you can view the content on your Fire TV device.

So in theory I can rent a movie on my iTunes on my PC and watch it on my Fire TV?

Yes. The content will be available on any of your devices with the same Apple ID account.

I don't see any way to subscribe to an Apple TV premium channel (like Arrow Video Channel) via my iTunes / PC

PCs are not supported for Apple TV app Channels at this time. You need a device that has the Apple TV app (and that is not Fire TV), as listed on the linked support page.
