iMovie Videos Lagging/Freezing

Hello,

So I'm really struggling to edit my videos for a new Youtube channel. I have filmed them on my Iphone 11 at I think 1080p HD at 30 fps. The video eventually (at the start its ok) will lag, I can hear it but the video is slow and not in tune with the audio making it absolutely impossible to edit sections where I'm talking.

I tried option, control when launching imovie and it helped with one of my successfully edited videos but not this one - despite freeing up space on my imovie too.

I'm not so much of a tech wiz and if this continues when filming on my phone in the future or I cant solve it I'm going to have to purchase FinalCutPro.

Thanks so much!

Hi, Resh2020,

I assume that your audio is embedded in the video and is not a separate background clip. Correct?

If so, try converting your clips to H.264, Mp4/AAC with the free download, Handbrake. Do that even if the codec already is indicated to be Mp4/AAC. Re-rendering often cures audio issues.

You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to complete. Then save and import the converted clip into iMovie.

Always good to work with duplicate clips so as to preserve your originals.
