Recently, when I am typing an email, the cursor randomly skips backwards in the middle of previous text.
I have reset the trackpad settings. I am not accidentally hitting the space bar. All updates are up tp date. It is a 2017 macbook, and just started doing this a couple of months ago.
That's strange. Download Malwarebytes and run a test to determine whether the issue is associated with malware. Also, ensure System Integrity Protection (SIP) is enabled by launching Terminal and typing in the phrase "csrutil status". It sounds like your palms are resting on the edge of the trackpad, which is what is causing your pointer to move unintentionally. Try repositioning your hands while typing.
No that is definitely not what is happening. I have seen it actually jump backwards many times. It has not always done this. It is skipping backwards on its own.
