Having trouble getting a custom ring tone onto my phone.
The .m4r file does not show up in the Ringtone section.
I feel like I'm missing something really simple...

These are exactly the steps that I followed.
It shows up in iTunes under the phone's Tones...but doesn't sync.
See my post above. Was your source file in .m4a/AAC format before you changed the extension to .m4r? In certain circumstances you may need to remove all ringtones and then reimport them for them to display properly on the device.
