Is it a 13-inch? If so it is still supported. The 15-inch 2012 is not.

The13-inch 2012 non-Retina was in continous production until Oct of 2016. Per this Apple support document:

Vintage and obsolete products - Apple Support

it has parts and service support until Sept 2021 assuming they don't run out of parts. Note that the 13-inch 2012 is NOT listed among the "vintage" products. About six months ago the Apple Store in Boise ID repalced the battery in my son's 13-inch non-Retina MBP without question.

A part number does you no good as Apple never sold batteries as service parts. They install what they sell, or you don't get an official Apple battery. Avoid any batteries online alleged to "Apple original" and any on auction sites. Had I a dollar for every sad story here about aftermarket batteries from shady suppliers, I could buy myself a presidential candidate!

If you have a 15-inch 2012 MBP, then look at OWC for help:

And, because you asked about a battery, I resume you have an MacBook Pro and not a Mac Pro, an expensive desktop workstation
