my entire family is using my Apple ID. While we are on the same wireless plan I want them to have their own IDs so we don't share texts, phone calls, etc. How do I set them up with individual IDs? or , is it necessary?

If you don't want to share stuff, it is necessary.

If 13 years old or older.

Apple ID - create a new.

Apple ID – Create

If under 13 years old, you will need to set up Family Sharing to create an ID.

Family Sharing and Apple ID for your child.

Family Sharing.

Family Sharing - Set up.

When changing to the new ID, there may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. See Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion. Also set up Family Sharing between the IDs to keep access to your apps/purchases.

Set up - your child’s iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

For each family member 13 or older, on their device, use What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351

Then, on each such device, use Set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202033--with each family member choosing an Apple ID different from yours.

If anyone is under 13, see what Eric Root said. If you reject his idea, then perhaps the better thing to do, in addition to what I say above, is to leave anyone under 13 associated with your Apple ID until age 13 arrives.
