Hello ira34,

We understand you need instructions on how to burn a video to a DVD. We're happy to help you out with this.

Does your model of Mac come with a built-in optical drive for DVD burning? You can check using the steps here: Find out if the optical drive on your Mac can burn discs. If it doesn't, you will need to get a get one. You can purchase one from Apple here: Apple USB SuperDrive. You will also need a blank DVD.

Next you will need DVD-burning software on your Mac. Older macOS versions came with a program called iLife that included an app called iDVD for DVD burning. However, this app is no longer available for newer macOS versions. If you're still running a version that has iDVD, you can burn your video by dragging the video file into the iDVD app.

Depending on which application you used to create the video, you may be able to burn/save it to DVD directly from that app. If DVD-burning software is needed, you can purchase Apple's Compressor app from the Mac App Store: Compressor - Mac App Store. Here's more info on how to use that app: Simple transcoding overview - Compressor Help. You can also find third-party DVD-burning apps in the Mac App Store as well. Search for "burn DVD" in the Mac App Store window to see a number of options.
